Education

Do you agree with the writer Minae Mizumura?
I disagree with Minae Mizumura. I have three reasons.

First, of course Japanese speak Japanese as first language, so we can use Japanese well. Therefore, we do not must study Japanese harder than foreign language.
Second, it is essential for us to use Internet at the present day. Internet is helping our life, so the advent of the Internet is not bad things.
Third, today Japan should be more international. Of course we must treasure first language, but we also need to take in foreign culture.

Men and Women

Do you agree or disagree with the author (who is Japanese). Please explain why in your blog.
I agree with Kaori Shoji.

When I read this essay, I was suprised and suffered from shock. Especially, this sentence hurt me, "Onnanoko wa mendoudashi, renraku shinakya-naranaishi, purezento toka okane kakarushi..."
What is "mendou"??? Why??? I can not belive it!!!
Beyond queation, recent young men becoming increase "soushokukei-danshi(草食系男子)" in Japan. I hate "soushokukei-danshi" very much, and I love "nikushokukei-danshi(肉食系男子)"!!
I think that men must behave like a man!! I wish that men in Japan become more greedy and more manly!!

Table Manners

1. Have you ever eaten in a restaurant in a foreign country? Where?
What did you eat? Did you make any mistakes?
Yes, I have. When I visited in the United States of America, I went to the restaurant with my host family. We ordered chicken, mashed potatoes, breads and each drinks. I was suprised when food came on our table. Almost foods were very big and much!!!!! I had never seen the mashued potatoes of so large serving and the chiken of so big. I suffered from culture shock then. I think that maybe I didn't make a mistake then.

2. Did you learn anything?
Yes, I did. I learned that refill of drink are free and we can take the eating remainder home. I think its are very good systems :)

Weddings

★Since Japanese weddings are expensive, do you think having a massive wedding like Korea or UAE is a good idea? Why?
Yes, I think having a massive wedding like or UAE is a good idea!!! Wedding is special day in one's lifetime, so we should perform a marrige on a large scale!!!

★What do you think about eloping? Is it a good idea or romantic? Why?
I think that eloping is bad idea, and it is not romantic. When I marry, I want to be celebrated by my parents. If I elope with my boyfriend, my parents and my family will be very sad. Therefore, I think that eloping is bad idea.

★Have you ever thought about having a wedding in a foreign location like Hawaii? Would you do it? Why? Or Why not?
I do not want to have wedding in a foreign location. It is very romantic, but it is not easy for guests to go wedding in a foreign location.

★What is your ideal wedding?
I want to have wedding in the church, and I want to wear white wedding dress. However, Japanese style wedding is very attractive for me, so I also want to wear "shiromuku" in the shrine. I cannot decide yet :(

★What would you definitely do, wear or go to on that big day? Why is that important?
I want to make the most wonderful and happy day in my life when I hold my wedding. So I plan wedding elaborately, and I will go to the salon of nail, hair and skin before my wedding.
I will do it because it is most important day for me.

★Have you ever been to a foreigner's wedding? What was your impression?
No, I have never. I want to go a foreigner's wedding!!! My impression of a foreigner's wedding is more casual than Japanese wedding. I think that Japanese wedding is formal.

Superstitions

★Do you think it is important to talk about superstitions in cross culture communication class? Why?
Yes, I think it is important to talk about superstitions in cross culture communication class. There are many countries students in this class, so we can share superstitions of a variety of country. I am interested in superstitions of a variety of country so much!!!

★Is communication affected by superstitions?
No, I do not think that communication is affected by superstitions.
But I think Japanese believe in superstitions so much.

★Do you believe in superstitions? If yes, what superstitions do you believe? Why do you do, use, or believe in them?
Yes, I believe in superstitions. For example, "I give another person a cold, so I recover from my cold." I belive in it so much because I have experienced it.

Death and Funerals

Do you agree with the web site's description? What do you do that can be called "wrapping" ? Give examples and reasons for your actions.
Yes, I do.
Because I want to hide my no makeup face, I always wear sunglasses when I do not makeup.
Because I want to guard my privacy, I always close the curtains in my house at night.

Do you have any international friends or a host family? If so, how would you express your condolences to them if a family member died? If not, then how would you express condolences to an American host family if their Grandmather died?
Yes, I do. If a family member died, maybe I say "I am so sorry" or "Please accept my condolences" or " My sympathies are with you". Because I have seen it on the drama of foreign country, I will say it.

Have you ever been to a foreign funeral?
I have never been to a foreign funeral.
